Heart-Shaped Dream: A Custom Car Fantasy

Okay, so we all know the impractical and iconique will forever have my full attention, but this is on a whole other level. I stumbled upon this car a while ago while diving into the world of custom build cars, and honestly, I couldn’t get over it. It was like it had been alchemised into existence! But then, life happened, and it sort of slipped my mind for probably a little too long. This weekend, though, it came roaring back into my consciousness, and I just had to share it with you all.

Enter the Danacol Heart Car by Asylum SFX. These are the masterminds behind some of the most amazing model making and special effects in the industry. They've created installations and props for all our favourite productions, from Kylie Minogue’s Kiss Me Once sofa to the flaming corridor in Film 4, and let’s not forget the iconic Ian Beale scene on the sinking ship in EastEnders. But today, we’re talking about the Danacol Heart Car, a masterpiece built from scratch for the Danone Danacol commercial by the talented Luis Gerrard and the team at Great Guns TV.

I’m undeniably sad to have missed out on the sale back in 2015, where it went for a cool £38k. Here’s a quick rundown on how this beauty came to life: they used Cinema 4D to design the car and rapidly produced pre-viz for the client to approve. The approved design info was then used to machine out the car in polystyrene. This was moulded to create a fiberglass body shell. While this was happening, their engineers were busy building the chassis and running gear. Once the engine was fitted, the body shell was fixed on, bringing the whole thing to life.

Honestly, the blend of artistry and engineering in this car is beyond impressive, and I can’t get over how amazing it looks. It’s a perfect mix of creativity and technical prowess – a true icon in the world of custom builds.
